MISSION STATEMENT

We, the members of the National Internet Alliance support competition in all aspects of internet services.

We support internet competition and consumer choice on all platforms and all manners of transmission, whether cable, dsl, satellite, wireless or any other means of data transmission. We support wholesale, retail, and
facilities based competition.

Competition and open access are the best ways to maximize benefits to consumers.

We seek:
  • Enforcement of the open access to all facilities as promised under the 1996 Telecom Act;
  • Elimination of monopolistic practices by those who provide both Internet backbone and Internet services as well as their attempts to privatize the Internet;
  • Passage of the Internet Tax Freedom Act and exemption of all state and federal taxation of Internet access;
  • Decentralized control of the internet to ensure that no one company or handful of companies has influence over news, media, or public debate.
We believe competition, entrepreneurship, and diversity of opinion are important values and should be encouraged.

We resolve to work together and with those who share our concerns, to advance these goals.
